Saromi came full blast to berate government attitude towards Nigerian software developers during his presentation of a paper at the just concluded two day Information and Communications Technology (ICT) seminar organised by the Titans of Tech in Lagos last week. The annual event was supposed to be a technology event that was designed to make in-roads for the future of Nigeria in the area of converged economy, but turned out to be an event where ordeals of indigenous software developers were recounted. Saromi described indigenous software developers as a people who are abandoned by government, neglected by its own people and bullied by Indian companies, where Nigerians rush to buy software applications to solve local business problems. He listed challenges of indigenous software developers as internal discrimination, absence of service culture, lack of project management skills, absence of government framework to protect software developers, among others. According to him, the Indigenous Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON), the umbrella body for all software developers in the country is supposed to protect the interest of software practitioners, but lamented that ISPON has turned out to be a shadow of itself and has nothing to offer to the software industry, not to mention protecting of the industry it is supposed to represent. He called on ISPON to wake up from its slumber and do what it is supposed to do. J2EE: EJB, JSP, Servlets, JSF, JSTL, JCA, JMS, JTA, JNDI, JDBC, JMX, RMI, etc. Frameworks: Struts, Hibernate, JPA, iBATIS, JBoss AOP, Spring, JSF, AJAX, GWT, YUI, Flex/Flash, JUnit, and Jakarta common libraries. Integration: Web Services on Axis and WebMethods; as well as the Web Service Standards such as SOAP, WSDL and UDDI.
